Beginning August 25 and continuing through the weeks surrounding September 11, WeReach is bringing youth, volunteers, community partners, and supporters together for a meaningful 9/11 Day community service initiative.
As a recipient of the 2026 9/11 Day Grant Program, WeReach will commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11 by transforming remembrance into service, kindness, and community impact across East Boston, Lynn, and surrounding communities.
Our 9/11 Day Initiative
Through our Community Resilience and School Readiness Project for 9/11 Day, more than 100 volunteers will come together to prepare 84+ Community Resilience and School Readiness Packages for local youth and families.
The packages will include essential resources designed to support school readiness, family resilience, emergency preparedness, and everyday needs.
Youth and community volunteers will also create 475 handwritten kindness and remembrance cards with messages inspired by:
Service. Unity. Gratitude. Resilience. Kindness.
Keep One. Share the Rest.
Each package will include several of these special cards along with one simple invitation:
Keep One. Share the Rest.
Recipients can keep one message that inspires or encourages them and share the remaining cards with a friend, classmate, teacher, neighbor, family member, or anyone who could use a little kindness.
This pay-it-forward approach allows the impact to continue beyond the original package, turning one act of service into a growing chain of connection throughout the community.
Our Community Impact Goal
Through volunteering, package preparation, card-making, distribution, and sharing kindness forward, WeReach aims to:
Engage 100+ volunteers
Prepare 84+ community resilience and school readiness packages
Reach and impact 475 people
Create hundreds of messages of encouragement and kindness
The initiative also gives young people an opportunity to learn about September 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance and experience firsthand how service can strengthen a community.
