Artificial intelligence and automation are evolving quickly. For many people, the challenge is not a lack of interest, but knowing where to begin and how these tools can actually be used in the real world.
With support from a grant from the Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA), WeReach created the AI & Digital Skills Program to help make emerging technology education more accessible and provide participants with practical, hands-on learning opportunities.
Through the program, participants explored Artificial Intelligence, automation, cybersecurity, digital workflows, and problem-solving, gaining experience with tools and concepts increasingly relevant to today’s workforce.
Learning by Doing
The program was designed to go beyond simply talking about AI. Participants had the opportunity to experiment, build, and understand how automation can solve real-world problems.
One participant described how difficult it had previously felt to keep up with the rapid evolution of AI:
“I never really felt like I got the full grasp of what automation and AI could do. Right when I thought I’d caught up, something new had already changed.”
Through step-by-step instruction and practical examples, that uncertainty began to change.
The participant shared:
“This course finally helped me understand what AI-powered automation is capable of.”
Instructor Andres guided participants through real examples from everyday life and business, helping make complex concepts easier to understand and apply.
From Learning to Building
For this participant, one of the most meaningful moments came when they built an automation themselves.
The system could receive a request, interpret and organize the information, and automatically notify someone, demonstrating how AI and automation can reduce repetitive work and create more efficient processes.
“There’s nothing quite like watching something you built just take care of things on its own.”
That experience represents an important goal of the program: helping participants move from simply hearing about emerging technologies to understanding how and why to use them.
Turning the GTIA Grant Into Community Impact
The support provided through the GTIA grant made it possible for WeReach to expand access to hands-on technology education and help participants develop skills for an increasingly digital workforce.
And the impact extended beyond the classroom.
22 people enrolled in the program.
18 successfully graduated.
6 participants secured employment after the program.
1 participant earned a career promotion.
Behind each number is an individual who gained new knowledge, practical experience, or an opportunity to move forward professionally.
