About Wonderfund

Our History

WeReach was founded approximately three years ago by Dr. José Pérez and Dr. William Morrissette in response to the growing need for inclusive workforce solutions in the gateway cities surrounding Boston. Dr. Pérez noticed a key gap: while immigrant and minority communities possessed immense talent, strong skills, and entrepreneurial spirit, they often faced significant barriers. These included limited access to professional networks, funding, and the necessary certifications or training to advance.

Despite these challenges, research consistently shows that immigrants are often highly equipped to start businesses and contribute meaningfully to the economy. In response, WeReach was created as a nonprofit organization grounded in the entrepreneurial experiences of its founders. Its mission is to create workforce development programs that empower underrepresented individuals by connecting them to the opportunities they need to thrive.

WeReach doesn’t just focus on solving an immediate social issue. It also addresses a broader economic need. Massachusetts, with its rapidly evolving industries like healthcare, clean energy, and research, requires a skilled and diverse workforce to sustain its growth. By bridging the systemic gaps, WeReach contributes to the long-term prosperity of both individuals and the state as a whole.
